Mothers Day 2018

Mother's Day was last Sunday, and once again I was showered with lots of love from my beautiful family.

The children had been busy at school making beautiful cards, coupons and even some drink coasters and they had all been to the mothers day stall at school and bought me some beautiful gifts.

In the morning we had Rory hop into our bed at 5.30am, because he was just so excited to give me the things he had made. Not too long after the girls came in and we opened presents and had lots of cuddles. I then had some delicious Vegemite on toast and a coffee made by the children. 

Through the day we went to Tom's parents house along with my Mum for some lunch and a catch up which was lovely. 

That night the children and Tom worked away at cooking me a lovely roast beef dinner, and to top it all off, they even cleaned up afterwards!

The best way to spend mothers day, with my beautiful family.

Portraits

With Mothers day around the corner, I thought I'd do an update on my three biggest achievements. My main purpose for being on this earth was to be their Mum, I enjoy nurturing them and watching them grow and be the best they can be. I'm so thankful that they are happy and healthy and that Tom and I can call them ours. The best gifts in the world.

Alexis - 6

She'll have at least three outfit changes a day, but folds and puts away the clothes she's taken off. She idolizes her big sister Poppy, and often copies her sayings and movements when Poppy isn't looking. 

She loves to read, gives the best massages, and is the most caring little girl you'll meet. She is softly spoken, so much so that I tell her many times a day to please speak up, because we can't hear her. 

She loves to do drawings for anyone and everyone, but they must be right, with the persons eyes, hair and other features having to be exactly as the person she is giving the drawing to. 

She is an amazing reader and writer and is always keen to better her learning. She enjoys gymnastics and we are often amazed by her muscle tone and strength, especially upper body, she flies through the monkey bars, can do chin ups on the rings and can flip over the bars with ease, she takes it all in her stride and we couldn't be prouder of our gorgeous girl.

Likes: Dancing, Gymnastics, Sushi, Tropical Juice, Mango, Raspberries, Blueberries, Kiwi Fruit,  Drawing, Writing, Sketching, Salad Wraps, Singing, Dresses, Anything her big sister does, Sleep overs with Grandparents, Lego and Shopkins.

Dislikes: Getting her hair done, Chocolate, Biscuits, and Bananas.

Poppy - 9

Our friendly, thoughtful, kind hearted girl. She takes any opportunity to turn everything in to a joke, and is always up for a laugh. She is also a sensitive girl, and if the jokes on her, it might not be as funny.

She loves to read, ride her bike, practice new tricks on the trampoline, and feels so proud of herself when she has achieved something she's been working hard at. 

She is sensitive of others feelings, and will always be the first to go over to someone if they look upset or alone in the playground. A true friend, that will be by your side through thick and thin.

Her math skills amaze us, she is in an extension group at school, and what she is learning in well over my head, definitely skills she gets from her Dad, which is great, because it's something they can work on together one on one.

I love how she gets excited to share special moments with her brother and sister, and is always the first to say "thanks for taking us Mum" when ever we leave the park, pool, bike ride or another adventure.

Likes: Kiwi Fruit, Hot Chocolates, Bike Riding, Gymnastics, Showing people her bedroom, Crafting, Dancing, Karaoke, Sleep overs with friends, "The Parent Trap" Movie, Painting her nails, Lego and Slime.

Dislikes: Reading out loud, Broccoli, Going to bed early, Sharing Mum with her brother and sister, and Tuna.

Rory - 6

Our kind hearted, caring, friendly little man. I know I say all the time how sweet our boy is, but I think I felt his sweet nature would change as he grew, but if anything it's gotten stronger. Like yesterday when Alexis broke her brand new necklace she'd bought, Rory came to me and said "I feel like crying for Alexis Mum, she saved all her money for that necklace".

He's the first one to hop into our bed of a morning, and bring in his 'woof woof' for everyone to share. 

He love to play Lego, and read superhero comics and books, play the play station and iPhone, do puzzle and learn new spelling words.

He isn't the greatest help around the house, and would much rather be playing than helping me set the table or put his clothes away, but when he is made to help, he soon turns his chores into fun by dancing or singing funny songs.

He is easy going, and doesn't let much annoy him, he is very tolerant of other people and doesn't get frustrated easily. 

Likes: Dried mango, Hot Chocolates, Any Screen he is aloud to play, Riding his bike, Doing Mazes, Blueberry yogurt, Superheros, Salmon, Lego, Baby Bell cheese and Soccer.

Dislikes: Chips, Going for long walks, Writing and Wearing jeans (which I make him do a lot).

Scavenger Hunt

Poppy had a play date yesterday, and sometimes it can be hard to think of activities to do, sometimes she and her friends are fine to entertain themselves, then other times they come looking for me to help them with ideas. So through the week I made up a little scavenger hunt to have up my sleeve in case they were looking for ideas.

I made some little rhyming notes to help them through the hunt, some a little cryptic, and some that were easier to decipher. 

At the end of the hunt, I had a little bag each waiting for them with a few treats, hopefully some things that would keep them playing happily into the afternoon.

Of course Rory and Alexis would want in on the action also, so I made them a simpler hunt, with most of their clues to be inside the house, so they wouldn't pester their older sister too much and be "like so embarrassing" while her friend was over.

They got the same bag of goodies at the end of their hunt.

Rory and Alexis whizzed through the clues faster than I thought they would, so next time I'll make their clues a little harder.

Everyone enjoyed the hunt, and all said they wanted to do another!

Devonport

On Anzac day, Tom had the day off and as Poppy was away with her Pop, we decided to take the Twins on a little road trip to Devonport, which is about an hour away from where we live.

There is a great park right on the water, and with the tide being low, the beach was great for rock climbing and finding crabs and other sea goodies. We could hear the twins giggling away and when I asked them what they were laughing at, they said they were finding the red squishies on the rocks and making them 'wee'.

We took a walk along the water and went out to see the 'king of the sea' statue. Alexis said he looked like Ariel's Dad from the movie. 

We went to The Hill Street grocer and met a friend there for lunch. After we did a little shopping and then headed to Latrobe as we wanted to go to a store called 'Reliquare' but being was Anzac day it wan't open.

Instead we played around and took some funny pictures in Latrobe, before heading back home. The twins slept all the way home.

A fun little day out, and some special time spent with my cheeky two.

Holidays

We've had so many holidays lately, first it was Easter, where we went camping at Griffin Park for four nights, then after being back at school for a week, we went straight into term holidays, which we are smack bang in the middle of. We've been busy keeping our three busy, here is a little of what we've been up to lately...

We've visit Evercreech Forest Reserve, and a tree that's over 300 years old, I remember visiting the same tree when I was younger, and it brought back some great memories.

We took the short walk to Mathinna Falls, last time we were here it was hot enough for a swim, this time we just stopped for some photos and spent some time climbing the rocks.

They spent hours on the motorbikes and buggy over the Easter, I'm impressed at how good all three children are getting on the two wheeler.

The Easter bunny found us camping at Griffin Park and left a great big egg hunt.

We cooked damper and marshmallows over the fire.

We've spent lots of time with good friends.

Alexis and Poppy had hair cuts, Alexis had quiet a lot cut off, her hair was right down past her bottom before the big chop! It looks so great and healthy now.

We've been out for endless coffee dates.

We've had picnic dinners in many parks.

We explored some art around the walls of our town.

We've gone on much longer bike rides than ever before, Tom and I walk and the children ride ahead, stopping at any fork in the road, we've explored so many new tracks, stopping half way for a picnic and a rest.

Rory's helped Tommy in the shed.

We've caught up with cousins from Melbourne for fun play dates at Granny's.

We went to the YMCA open night and tried lots of activities, including the new rock wall.

We drove to the beach and collected sea treasures along the sand.

We stopped for Ice Creams on warm afternoons.

They played nicely (most of the time) and visited almost every park in the area.

We've been to the town Library, borrowed books and enjoyed quiet corners to read in.

Poppy's baked biscuits, and shared with anyone and everyone.

With one week of holidays left, I'm sure we'll visit more parks, go for more rides and have more coffee dates.
