Dyed egg craft

We have been getting in the Easter spirit and have made some pretty dyed eggs for our table centre piece.

They are easy to make with a little one and there is plenty they can help with, it's also a great time to talk with them about what Easter means to your family or what you plan to do to celebrate.

You will need eggs, a needle, food dye, scissors, masking tape and a black marker

first poke a small hole in the top and bottom of the egg with the needle. 

Then here comes the hard bit... blow through one of the holes until the entire insides of the egg come out the bottom hole (its also a good idea to poke the needle right into the egg a few times to break the white and yolk, making it easier to blow out)

cut out patterns with masking tape and stick onto the hollowed out eggs

mix a small amount of food dye with water to make a little colour bath for your eggs

leave in colour bath turning a few times for about 15 minutes (darker colours like red, blue and purple work best)

leave eggs on paper until completely dry

peel of the masking tape and trace around the shapes with the black marker

display your pretty eggs for Easter, or string them together to make a beautiful Easter bounty.
