Peach Chutney

I have been lucky enough to get my hands on a few boxes of delicious peaches, even though the children constantly have their hands in the box picking the best ones to eat I still had a few left over to make some chutney.

The recipe is so tasty I had to share:

What you'll need:

100g butter
1 large onion, roughly diced
9 cling stone peaches, peeled and cut into eights
100g dried currents
2tsp mustard seeds
175g dark brown sugar
300ml red-wine vinagar

What to do:

Melt butter in a large saucepan and cook the onion until soft, then toss in peaches.

Add the remaining ingredients and stir well.

Bring chutney to the boil then turn to just a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally until thickens. This will take between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Fill hot, sterilised jars with chutney and seal them.

This recipe makes about 750ml of Chutney... I always make at least a double (if not triple) batch. Yum!

Peach chutney is delicious on Chicken or Pork, as well as a toast topper. My favourite way to enjoy this delicious treat is with a cheese platter, and maybe a cider (or two)

  1. Delish, what a great idea! I've never heard/thought of peach chutney. Even better with a cheese platter and cheeky cider or two ;-)
