Mother's day

Last Sunday we celebrated mother's day, I was spoiled rotten with beautiful handmade cards and gifts the children had made in class, some lovely pieces from the Mother's day stall at our school, a voucher from Tommy for some boots I had been eyeing off for a few weeks and lots of other goodies like PJ's chocolates and jewelry.

Breakfast in bed was made by the girls and Tom (Rory was away at his Gran's) and then we met up with Rory and Tom's parent's at Auskick.

We then went out to lunch with my Mum and my Nanna, and Tom's parents.

 

Where we had lunch it has an indoor playground, so the children were happy to play, making it a stress free event.

The best thing about Mother's day is spending the day with my family, and appreciating how lucky I am to call these three mine.

Eight

 On the 9th of October Poppy turned 8. She had decided she would like to go rock climbing with her friends instead of having a full blown birthday party (phew!) and it was the perfect activity for my active girl.

The day before her birthday she met with six of her friends at our local PCYC where they giggled, rock climbed, jumped on the trampolines and did gymnastics. It was the perfect catch up as it was the end of the two week school holidays and all the girls were missing each other.

On the morning of her actual birthday Poppy had asked to go to McDonald's for breakfast, as she had never been for breakfast before, so all the children were very excited. She got the hot cakes and a juice and won two free sundaes on the Monopoly promotion stickers, so it looks like another trip to Macca's is to be had in the next few weeks before they run out. 

The 9th was a Sunday and also the day we go to a friends place to watch the Bathurst car race every year, there is always lots of our friends and children to play with so it was the perfect thing to do on Poppy's birthday, one of our friends Lily turned two a few days before, so both the girls had birthday cakes to share. Lily had a great "Dory" cake and Poppy had requested a 'Pinata' cake (where you 'smash' a chocolate dome and reveal a cake covered in lollies underneath!) 

Happy Birthday my gorgeous girl, I hope the year ahead is your best yet.

Lately...

We are in the first week of the term three school holidays. I can't believe the year has gone so fast! We are always so busy, so to spend the last few days of holidays with family has been lovely, here is a little snap shot...

We've been baking

Alexis has been "Super meow meow"

Poppy has been watching the veggies in her little garden grow, finding worms and relocating them here and watering, so much watering.

We watched Poppy dance in the all schools dance event in the last week of school.

They've been playing nicely so far these school holidays, they even weeded the garden for hours.

Tommy and I have been meal planning, especially healthy lunches.

We flew kites.

We stocked the fridge with healthy treats. 

We've enjoyed smoothies most days.

They've explored the 'junk yard' behind our sheds.

We walked, scootered and ridden bikes.

We enjoyed family lunch dates on rainy days.

I have been loving the gorgeous Adore U range.

I've enjoyed quiet baths after the children have gone to bed.

We've walked around the Seaport, stopping for coffee and chips.

We've swam at the Aquatics centre.

And we've pulled out a few board games and old favorites. 

We've been enjoying our own company and re-exploring the town we live in, our family usually has every day booked or double booked in the holidays, so it's been really nice spending time together. 

We are getting busier this coming week, but for now, I'll enjoy the slow paced days.

Snow weekend

On Friday night we rushed around gathering our snow gear out from storage and packing food for the weekend, as first thing the next morning we were headed off for a little snow adventure.

Early Saturday morning I changed my excited three into their snow gear, stuffed the car to it's full capacity and we headed off.

It's only an hour from our home to the top of Ben Lomond, which has the only ski-village in Tasmania. We had been watching the weather all week, and was happy to see there was going to be lots of snow to play in.

It wasn't long after we had settled into our cabin that we were out playing in the snow, it was the most beautiful day, and we were all shedding our jumpers and coats after a couple of trips up the hill with toboggans.

We all had plenty of turns, some more risky than others, Rory and Poppy loved the big (scary for Mum) slopes, and Alexis enjoyed the smaller hills, making snow balls and sliding down on her bottom.

All the children did an amazing job walking up the large slippery slopes over and over again, working up a hunger and they all happily went to bed early that night!

The big kids all had a good time too, and after a play with the younger kids, headed off on the lifts to have a snowboard for the afternoon.

We went with three other families, and the cabin we stayed in is always so well suited for families, with lots of toys, highchairs large kitchen and sleeping areas and plenty of room for all the kids to play.

It was another great family weekend that we loved sharing with our friends. Yesterday afternoon everyone was exhausted and there was plenty to do before the busy week ahead.

I guess Winter isn't too bad after all.
