Cactus forks

Hola. 

Here is another little Mexican Fiesta craft I have whipped up for my 30th in a few weeks.

A bunch of cactus forks. The easiest craft of all time uses some bamboo forks, some green poster paint and a black sharpie. 

Paint both sides of the handle on your forks.

I like to use my cheap labor for long tedious tasks like this.

Then pop on some 'spikes' with your sharpie when the paint is dry, I even got Poppy to do this, so really the kids did this craft, while I day dreamed of tacos and tequila. 

These are going to look great on our colorful fiesta table.

Christmas Paper

Every year we make our own wrapping paper for Christmas presents, this way the children can feel involved in the giving process but not actually have to help wrap the presents (because as a control freak, it's way to much for me to handle.)

This year I had the twins paint their own red and green design on the paper that we would use for their child carers gifts, and then I made Christmas tree 'stamps' out of kitchen sponge for the rest of the paper.

The paper always looks so nice under the Christmas tree and the children are always happy when people asked if they made it on Christmas day.

Now to finish my Christmas shopping so we can actually put the paper to use.

Prints

I have been obsessing over beautiful children's rooms since we have bought our new home, and I'm really looking forward to making a special haven for my three.

My first DIY was to make some prints that will go with the color scheme of their rooms.

I found some basic white frames from K-mart at the bargain price of $6 each.

I had a little play around on Pic Monkey and made these colorful designs and printed them off on card.

Popped them in the white frames, and voila! 

How easy was that! 

These probably wont be the final images I use, but with a bit of mixing and matching I should have some pretty fantastic 'art' for the walls.

Including this one for the laundry...

I can't wait to see them on the freshly painted walls in a few months.

Pillow cases

After giving our linen cupboard a good old spring clean, I found we had way too many white pillow cases that don't get used, so I thought I would give them a new lease of life and add some color to the children's beds.

I had all the equipment at home already, some craft foam for making stamps and fabric paint from a previous craft.

I marked out where the stamps would go, making each line a little off center with the line before.

I liked that the print didn't come out perfectly, it adds to the 'homemade' feel.

I then hung them in the sun to dry and then filled them with some deliciously fluffy pillows.

They look great on the children's beds and will actually be used now instead of being stashed in the linen cupboard.

Four

Today my tiny two turn four and on Saturday we had a party at our local bike center to celebrate.

We all had to rug up as it was very cold, but no one seemed to mind, and especially not the children who had a fantastic time, riding their bikes, playing on the playground, stopping at the traffic lights and playing a game of ping ping or two.

We decorated our bikes, scooters and trikes with spoke beads and streamers,

And enjoyed a  BBQ for dinner followed by a sugar high from Alexis' favorite rainbow jelly and Rory's requested bike cake.

It got dark early, but no one seemed to mind, the children rode their bikes until it was too dark and we had to go.

The perfect way for my two to celebrate their special day.

Witches shoes

On the weekend I'm heading to a Halloween themed party and thought I would share with you the shoes I made for my witches outfit.

I bought these shoes from the op-shop for $3.50 and was stoked because I was sure they wouldn't have any to fit my big hoofs but these were the perfect size and shape.

From a cereal box I cut some little spikes to go on the back and two pointed sections to go over the top of my foot, I hot glued these on. I made the points of the shoes longer by rolling up some news paper and hot gluing them on.

I then covered the entire outside of the shoes in masking tape as I wanted them to be black and the red suede would have soaked up all the spray paint. 

I spray painted a few coats of black on and they were starting to look great. The masking tape would soon be covered in glitter.

I cut two 'buckles' from cardboard and painted them red.

I then painted the shoes, buckles and some paper I was going to make into straps with pva and sprinkled with a bucket load of glitter.

I then hot glued everything on with some plastic spiders for a bit of extra decoration.

I'm really happy with how they turned out and can't wait to get dressed up on the weekend!
