Chooks

One of our favourite things to do is to go out to Granny and Pop's to visit Pop's huge veggie garden and feed the chooks our scraps and, of course collect the fresh eggs!
Its so great for the kids to see (and pick, and eat) all the fresh produce in Pop's huge hot house and surrounding garden.
There is also some alpaca's in the paddock next door that always come and say hello, they are so lovely.

 Looking for the alpacas.
 The chooks enjoying our scraps.

The alpaca's coming to say hello.
Pop's garden looking fantastic, Corn, Pumpkins, Silver beat, Cabbage, Broccoli, Swede, Zuccini, Tomatoes, Strawberries, Herbs, Egg Plant, Capsicums, Beans, Chilli's, Peas, Carrots, Potatoes, Sun Flowers, Onions, Lettuce, and more!!

 In the hot house.
 Bird's eye view.
 Poppy finding pumpkins with Pop.
 beautiful Tomatoes.
Our Strawberries, not many made it home.

So with Pop slowly adding to his chook family (I think there was 7 last time I counted) there has been a crazy amount of eggs at our place!
This afternoon we made this gorgeous roast veggie tart, which is a great easy dinner for the kids and still had a big hit of their veggies.

 It is so easy!
Blind bake a short crust pastry base.
Chop and roast any veggies you have (I used, Sweet potato, red onion, potato, carrot and zuccinni).
Pour into pre-prepared pastry with some frozen peas.,
Make a egg and milk mix (About 6-8 eggs and 1/2 Cup of milk)
Pour over veggies and cook at 180 deg until golden and eggs are cooked.
My kitchen hand.
